Liberty Insurance Singapore

August 21, 2013

Liberty Mutual Insurance, the fifth largest global property and casualty insurer, today announced the appointment of Luiz Francisco Campos as President of Liberty Insurance Singapore.

Mr. Campos comes to Singapore from Liberty Mutual’s operation in Brazil.  He joined Liberty Seguros (Brazil) in 2003 and his most recent position was Director of Claims.  Prior to that, Mr. Campos was responsible for Sales and Distribution in the São Paulo State region for Liberty Seguros.  In total, he has more than 30 years of insurance experience in the Brazilian market.

“Luiz Francisco brings to Singapore the experience and knowledge gained from a successful career in Brazil,” said Luciano Suzuki, Chief Operating Officer of Liberty International Asia.  “Under his leadership, our Brazilian operations gained better control over claims costs and achieved 30 percent annual sales growth while opening multiple new branches.  I look forward to working with Luiz Francisco as he and the team in Singapore continue to develop innovative products and services that help Liberty Insurance succeed in this competitive insurance market.”

Liberty Insurance has become a champion of healthy and responsible communities, and supported this mission in 2012 through the creation of “Liberty Hunt”—a game that transformed Singapore’s green spaces into a massive playground where participants searched for answers to challenging riddles to win a SD$50,000 grand prize.  More than 3,000 people scavenged for “treasure” across hundreds of miles of Singapore’s parks last fall helping to promote use of the parks as well as increase public awareness of the company’s mission to promote and celebrate healthy lifestyles. The contest was so successful, earning the company the top prize in the 2013 MOB-Ex “Best Viral Marketing” category, that Liberty Insurance ran the program again this year.

Liberty Mutual entered Singapore in 1999 through acquisition-its first in the Asian market. The company now ranks in the top 10 of non-life insurers in Singapore and offers both personal and commercial insurance products through agents and brokers.

Liberty Mutual Insurance is one of the largest corporations in the world according to Fortune magazine and its international operations have contributed strongly to the company’s growth.  Over the past decade, the International business unit has had a compound annual growth rate of 16 percent and, in 2012, contributed $5.7 billion net written premium, or 17 percent, of the company’s $33.55 billion in net written premium for the year.  The International business unit provides insurance products and services through local country operations in three geographic regions – Latin America, Europe and Asia – and 11 of its 19 companies rank in the top ten in their market.
