Recognition and Support
Military Friendly Employer: In 2017, Liberty Mutual earned the Military Friendly® Employer designation. This is determined by combining an organization's survey score with an assessment of the organization's ability to meet thresholds for Applicant, New Hire Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of veterans and military employees. Each year, the list of Military Friendly® Employers is provided to service members and their families, helping them discover the best post-military career opportunities available.
ESGR Patriot Employer Award: In 2017, members of Liberty Mutual's commercial organization received the ESGR Patriotic Employer Award. Presented to civilian supervisors, the Patriot Employer Award recognizes efforts made by managers to support military, veteran and ally employees. Liberty leaders also signed a statement of support of the ESGR. The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) was established by The Department of Defense in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve members and their civilian employers.
Sponsorships: Liberty Mutual is the title sponsor of the Liberty Mutual Invitational, the #1 Charity Event in Golf. Each year, thousands of golfers participate in local amateur golf tournaments directly benefitting national and local charities. Military-specific charities supported by the Invitational include Caddy For A Cure, Disabled American Veterans, Fairways for Freedom, and Birdies for the Brave.
Philanthropy: Liberty Mutual recently completed a multi-year grant of $50,000 with the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, an association the company has supported since 2008. Liberty Mutual also provided a $50,000 grant to Boston-based New England Center and Home for Veterans and $30,000 grant to Community Rowing, an organization that offers free programs to veterans.
