Liberty Mutual Insurance announced the launch of a new location of Solaria Labs, Liberty Mutual's Innovation Center, in São Paulo, Brazil. The new site expands the Lab’s innovation efforts to new global markets serving Liberty Mutual’s Latin American and Western European operations.  Solaria Labs has a global presence, with locations in Boston, Singapore and now in São Paulo creating solutions to meet unmet consumer needs in this ever-changing world.

“The world is changing rapidly, and the way people move, live and conduct business continues to evolve and change.  Consumers are looking for new ways to protect what matters most, and their expectations are greater than ever,” said Adam L’Italien, head of Solaria Labs and vice president of innovation, Global Retail Markets, Liberty Mutual Insurance.  “The new São Paulo Lab will explore how these evolving trends will shape and shift the future – with the goal of providing new solutions to consumers in Latin American and Western Europe.”

Currently, Solaria Labs is exploring key trends in the areas of mobility, shelter, commerce and new forms of protection for life’s biggest investments and events, with the goal to develop disruptive new products to meet evolving consumer needs. Solaria is also exploring emerging technologies such as natural language processing and computer vision to build products for the insurance industry and beyond.

“It is always exciting to welcome new projects that can strengthen our capabilities to be one of the most innovative insurance companies in the country and the world," said Jose Mello, head of Solaria Labs West.  “Like our other Solaria locations, the new lab in São Paulo will operate with the mentality of a startup- immersing employees further into the ecosystem in the region.”
