The Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety conducts innovative scientific research to help reduce injuries and to improve disability outcomes. In 2014, the Institute realigned its research programs to four main areas:
driving,
built environment,
workplace and
disability. These new areas of focus opened up opportunities for collaborative research, better aligned with Liberty Mutual’s global operations, and positioned the Research Institute to help better address the safety concerns of today’s rapidly changing society.
Using Science to Enhance Safety
Every year in the U.S., one out of eight people seeks medical attention for an injury and more than 28 million people are disabled by their injuries (Injury Facts 2014). Research Institute scientists study the most common causes of injuries, such as slips and falls, overexertion and motor vehicle crashes. We are committed to finding evidence-based solutions to enhance safety and help reduce losses.
