Center for Physical Ergonomics

In 2007, the Center for Physical Ergonomics  (CPE) evolved from the former Center for Safety Research. CPE investigates the causes and mechanisms of workplace injuries and illnesses with an emphasis on musculoskeletal disorders.

CPE research scientists investigate the physical demands and human capacities associated with various job tasks. Findings from laboratory and field studies in biomechanics, human machine systems, low back pain, repetitive work, tribology, and work physiology, contribute to the scientific knowledge base and are used to develop interventions and enhance on-the-job safety.
