In 2002, the Liberty Mutual Research Institute established a collaborative relationship with Tsinghua University in Beijing, the premier engineering and science university in China. Through the SafeWork Program, researchers from Liberty Mutual and Tsinghua conduct joint research to help reduce the financial and social burdens associated with occupational injuries in China. Recent projects include investigations that focus on cross-cultural differences in the perception of warnings and in the perception of risk in driving, as well as a study of the hand anthropometry of Chinese workers. Research findings are shared worldwide through peer-reviewed publication.
