ON CAMPUS RECRUITMENT QUESTIONS

How do I apply to a position at Liberty Mutual?

What happens after I apply on-line to Liberty Mutual?
A:
All applicants will receive a general acknowledgement email that their resume has been received. Selected candidates will be contacted to schedule a first-round interview, which will usually take place on campus or over the telephone.  If the first-round interview is successful, candidates will be asked to continue in the interview process which usually require an on site visit including additional in person interviews.

Which college campuses does Liberty  Mutual recruit from?
A:
Liberty Mutual recruits on over 100 college campuses during the fall and spring semesters for internship and full time positions. Check with your school's career services office for more information.

How can I find out when Liberty Mutual is coming to my school?
A:
Click the Campus Visits link on the left side of this page or contact a representative at your career services office for on-campus recruiting events throughout each semester.

What degrees or academic specialties does Liberty Mutual target in recruiting?
A:
Liberty Mutual recruits a variety of academic backgrounds from both business-related fields as well as liberal arts.     

Can I apply to a specific Business Unit or Department?
A:
Yes. When an applicant searches for a position by job category, a list of job positions may be listed which are identified across the various Business Units.

I want to work internationally for Liberty Mutual.  How can I find out about international opportunities?
A:
Currently, we do not recruit domestically for our international offices.

 

INTERNSHIP QUESTIONS

Do you offer internships for undergraduate students?
A:
Yes. Liberty Mutual offers paid internship opportunities.

I am interested in interning at Liberty Mutual. What is the time frame for the process of becoming an intern?
A:
Intern jobs are posted on an ongoing basis.  Click the Search Student Opportunities link on the right of this page to view internships that are posted. However, for summer interns, most call backs and phone screens occur between January and March.

How do I apply to an internship position at Liberty Mutual?
A:
 Click on the “Undergraduate Internships” link on the menu on the left side of this page.

How long do the internship assignments last?
A:
Internship assignments typically last for 10-12 weeks during the summer months and various lengths during the academic semesters.

What assignments will I receive in an Internship or Co-op position?
A:
The assignments a Liberty Mutual Intern and Co-op receives gives them the chance to work on various critical business assignments, test their skills, use their academic knowledge and match their interests to a real job. 

What will be expected of me in an Internship or Co-op position?
A:
All Liberty Mutual Interns and Co-ops will be expected to meet their performance objectives for the duration of the assignment. We also expect our interns to quickly become a part of the team and provide any insight, knowledge or ideas to their designated department.

Can I get course credit for participating in the Internship or Co-op program?
A:
Please contact a representative from your career services office and/or academic affairs to see if you can receive course credit for the internship/co-op program. 

Is housing available for Internship and Co-op positions?
A:
Currently, housing is not available for internship and co-op positions.

Is special consideration given to interns when full-time job offers are made?
A:
Our goal is to convert our interns to full-time college hires after graduation. Meeting and/or exceeding performance objectives during the internship assignment will help determine if a job offer will be made.

When am I expected to start?
A:
Most college new hires that graduate in the spring begin sometime between June and early August. However, there can be various factors that play into this decision and the timeframe can vary by department.

Will Liberty Mutual help me obtain my work permit?
A:
Currently, we do not help college students obtain U.S. work permits after graduation.

What products does Liberty Mutual offer?
A:
Liberty Mutual offers a wide range of insurance products and services, including personal automobile, homeowners, workers compensation, commercial multiple peril, commercial automobile, general liability, global specialty, group disability, assumed reinsurance, fire and surety.
