For more than half a century, the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety has helped to improve the occupational safety and health of workers throughout the world. Owned and operated by Liberty Mutual Insurance, Boston, MA, the Institute conducts non-proprietary, peer-reviewed research to advance scientific, business-relevant knowledge in workplace and highway safety and work-related disability.

The 2012 Annual Report of Scientific Activity features the Institute's research progress in
the areas of injury epidemiology, physical ergonomics, behavioral sciences, and disability and return to work.
The Rachael Ray Show recently featured a segment on the Research Institute's driver fatigue study.
Scientific Investigation Earns 2013 Best Paper Award from Liberty Mutual Group and Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.

A recent Institute study, "Development and validation of safety climate scales for lone workers using truck drivers as exemplar" was recently published in Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour.
