As an organization dedicated to helping people live safer more secure lives, we respond to catastrophic events annually. In summer 2009, southern California wildfires impacted communities throughout Los Angeles. The Responsible Scholars team responded to this catastrophic event and continues its efforts annually to help restore areas of the country that have been devastated. “Making a difference, whether through volunteering on-campus or in the local community, is a key concern for college students,” said Lane Garnett, University Relations Program Manager for Liberty Mutual Group. “The Community Project gives students an opportunity to reach beyond their usual sphere of involvement to help people in a section of the country that unfortunately has experienced natural disasters.” This year, we are offering 10 students the opportunity to join the Responsible Scholars team once again in the Angeles National Forest. We are excited for the opportunity to build upon previous year’s work and continue our efforts with this sustainable project in the forest. Relevant dates: The Application period has now ended.
